A Study on the Effect of Bow shape on the Added Resistance in Waves

초록

While increasing interest in eco-friendly shipping Internationally, IMO (International Maritime Organization) has introduced EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions of the ship since 2013. For this reason, the efficiency of vessel operation has become a major concern of shipbuilding and shipping industry. As a study on the added resistance of a ship, several studies have been researched in terms of decreasing the wave reflection from bow. In this study, variation of added resistance according to bow shape is estimated by using CFD from short-wavelength region to long-one. Several 개념s of bow shape for reducing added resistance in both of short and long wavelength region are applied to container. The changes in the flare angle and overhang length on the Leadge-bow type vessel, and the additional resistance reduction was confirmed in the entire wavelength range. Also, the relation between the variation of the added resistance in the long wavelength region and the hull motion is considered.
