초록

This paper presents a discontinuous pulse width modulation (DPWM) scheme to reduce the switching loss of a single DC-link dual two-level inverter fed an open-end winding (OW) induction motor (IM). The dual inverter system is getting attention due to higher dc-link voltage utilization and the potential fault-tolerant capability. However, the dual-inverter suffers from reduced system efficiency due to increased power losses. Moreover, an OW motor provides a zero-sequence current (ZSC) path because of the open neutral point of the stator winding. The ZSC causes current ripple and additional power loss in the system. Thus, this work proposes an optimal DPWM scheme for the dual inverter to minimize the switching loss while suppressing the ZSC. Simulation and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the proposed DPWM scheme.
