A Study on the Place-Making of Intentional Terrain Vague

Focusing on the residual space generated by the collision between existing city and a new city plan, the study attempts to reinterpret a new concept on ‘planned(or intentional) terrain vague’ in comparison with original notion of “Terrain Vague”, and to explore how to integrate such ‘residual space’ with the existing urban space. The main argument is focused on clear understanding of such a territory as planned ‘terrain vague’, and finding a new way of giving body to the sense of place in such space, which is different from the design solution on the basis of Heidegger’s ‘Rift-design’.
