When asked if NPs were needed for care, 29.4% of Japanese nureses, 41.7% of Korean and 100% of American nurses responded "yes". When asked if NPs were needed to provide diagnostic and treatment services 17.3% of Japanese nurses, 41.7% of Korean, and 82.1% of American nurses responded "yes". Reasons for those nurses who answered "no" in Japan were "the physician is more qualified". Nurses were asked whether they have considered the education for the NP role and 8.3% of Japanese nurses, 60.3% of Korean, and 100% American nurses responded "yes". Reasons for those nurses (14.4%) who answered "no" in Japan included individual circumstances such as family age and timing in career, while others (13.3%) responded, "there is no interest in the NP role". More than 11% of Japanese nurses responded that they "did not want responsibility of the NP role."
