초록

Revealing the role of DNA ploidy in colorectal cancer as an independent prognostic factor or the correlation of DNA ploidy with the established prognostic factors by DNA flow cytometry analysis has been actively studied for the past twenty years, yet focusing only on the usefulness as a simple prognostic factor. The purpose of this study is to look into the influence of preoperative CEA level which has been already proved to be an effective prognostic factor, and DNA ploidy on the 5 year survival rate in colon cancer. This study suggests that DNA ploidy in patients with colon cancer has significant correlation with known prognostic factors such as age, staging, tumor size, and preoperative CEA level etc. Especially, the preoperative CEA level and DNA ploidy in patients with colon cancer may play a role as useful prognostic factors in any stage.
