There are few lung region detection methods to classify emphysema region and their performance is too low to help diagnosis of radiologists. This paper proposes a lung region detection method using seeded region growing (SRG) to classify emphysema region in chest CT images. The experimental result shows that the proposed method can overcome the boundary destruction problem in chest CT images
