TEE has many advantages for a more sensitive, accurate diagnosis of IE. Of course, there are some limitations for evaluating IE. Whom : any patient for whom IE is suspected or confirmed patients whose accompanying complication needs to be confirmed. When: as soon as IE is suspected, do without delay. How often: If the initial exam is inconsistent, perform a week later & do when confirming the end of antibiotic treatment
