Association between regularity and frequency of meals and metabolic parameters in type 2 diabetic patients

Background and aims: Medical Nutritional therapy is a key component for preventing diabetes, managing existing diabetes, and preventing the development of diabetic complications. The aim of this study was to assess the association between dietary habits and metabolic parameters in Korean type 2 diabetic patients who live in a different culture and have different dietary habits and patterns from those of western countries. Conclusion: Meal frequency of 3 times per day and more regular meal schedules was associated with decreased BMI but not glycemic control. Dietary habits seem to be an important factor for maintaining lower body weight in type 2 diabetic patients.
