The promising 5G technology is expected to be deployed in 2020 and the Cognitive Radio (CR) which is an emerging technology will plays a key role in enabling 5G technology. The CR technology is a promising way for filling the gap of spectrum scarcity problem and to support a diverse set of real-time and multimedia services and applications. A lot of research has already been conducted for evaluating the performance of Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs) under non real-time and data services. However, using CR technology for real-time and multimedia applications is big challenge as each multimedia application has its own stringent Quality-of-Service (QoS) requirements in terms of delay, bitrate, and Packet Loss Ratio (PLR). Moreover, due to a lack of coordination between Primary Users (PUs) and Secondary Users (SUs), identifying the QoS levels supported over available licensed channels has proven to be problematic and has yet to be attempted. In this paper, we propose a QoS-based channel labeling scheme. Our channel labeling scheme, characterize each licensed channel based on its supported QoS level. The performance of the proposed channel labeling scheme is evaluated under the real measurements of wireless data traces.
