Microstructure and Electrical Characteristics of Nano-grained BaTiO3 Ceramics Synthesized from Surface-coated Nano-powders

We investigated the microstructure, crystal structure, and electrical features of nano-grained BaTiO3 ceramics, which were synthesized from surface-coated BaTiO3 nano-powders. At particular conditions, the average grain size of the BaTiO3 ceramics is similar to the average size of the starting BaTiO3 nano-powders; with increasing the sintering temperature from 800 to 1000oC, the grain size of the ceramics appear to change very little, but it increased to be a few micrometer at 1200oC. The current versus voltage relation is nonlinear. The electrical features of the nano-grained ceramics synthesized from surface-coated nano-powders vary sensitively depending on the amount of coating materials as well as the sintering conditions.
