Changes in Korean reading culture with the advent of e-books
초록
As Korea has entered the digital age in the 1990s, the publishing culture and market has changed significantly and reading culture has become a diverse. It can be obtained easily to get more information and knowledge on the internet and use it in various ways. These changes threaten the traditional structure of publishing industry whi초 major role was to convey information and accumulate knowledge. This is even more prominent with the advent of e-book recently. And the purpose and meaning of reading has been being altered from the cultivation of knowledge and education to information acquisition and recreational enjoyment. Especially e-book terminal, which supports the multiple reading activities and has a useful performance, emerged as a powerful medium and this will lead a new reading culture in the era of Web 2.0. In other words, it is the opportunity that the expansion of e-book penetration not only change the structure of the publication, but also reestablish the concept of historically defined 'book' and the existing concept of 'Reader' is converted into 'User'. In this study, we will find out the elements for the changes of reading behavior, the change of book format and book meaning, the change of distribution platform and the change of publishing culture etc. by looking at trends and reader responses that were 엳 새 the emergence of the current e-book publishing market. For this purpose, based on Lev Manovich;s New Media theory, this study will draw the current event points for the change of Korea's reading culture.
