초록

In this study, primary instability and hysteresis effect of laminar flow past two square cylinders in tandem were investigated by numerical simulation. In order to implement the square cylinders on a Cartesian grid system, an Immersed Boundary Method was employed. Primary instability and hysteresis effect are strongly dependent upon the gap size between the two cylinders. we found the critical Reynolds numbers for the primary instability for various gap sizes, and compared them with other researcher’s results currently available. The routes for hysteresis are also discussed in detail.
