NOx formation characteristics of confined CH4 jet flames were numerically studied over the range equivalence ratio from 0.8 to infinity. The GRI-2.11 reaction mechanism that includes C2-chemistry and NOx reactions, is used for the calculation of reaction. The roles of thermal NO and Prompt NO mechanism on each flames are discussed and NOx emission index is introduced to represent the NOx emissions quantitatively. The results of study show that total EINOx increase steeply with the increase of equivalence ratio and reaches maximum value near ψ=1.5. For above this equivalence ratio, EINOx decreases slightly and then retains constant level. However, EINOx has the similar level of the fromer maximum value in diffusion flame.
