Effect of Alumina on the Formation of Hydroxyapatite in Bioactive Glass-Ceramics.

초록

Alumina in bioactive glasses is known as one of components to prevent from the formation of hydroxyapatite on its surface when reacted in simulated body fluids(SBF). In this study, bioactive glass-ceramics with large amounts of alumina and alumina-bioactive glass-ceramics composites were prepared. Those specimens contained various crystalline phases depending on the heat-treatment temperature. Those glass-ceramics reacted in SBF, and it was found that hydroxyapatite easily formed on the sample with alpha-wollastonite when reacted in SBF.
