Advanced symmetric supercapacitor performances of metal organic frameworks@cobalt sulfides decorated carbon nanotubes/graphene oxide hybrid composite electrodes

The practical application of supercapacitors is often limited by low energy density and poor cycling stability of traditional electrode materials. MOFs, with their large surface area, variable porosity, and distinct crystalline structures, provide a diverse foundation for developing new electrochemical storage materials. However, their poor intrinsic conductivity necessitates functional integration with conductive and redox-active components. In this study, we present a hybrid composite-CoS@NMWCNT@GO/MOF-67-synthesized via a one-step hydrothermal method. The composite synergistically combines the structural advantages of MOF-67 with the redox activity of cobalt sulfide (CoS), electrical conductivity of nitrogen-doped multi-walled carbon nanotubes (NMWCNTs), and graphene oxide (GO). This integration enhances charge transport, ion accessibility, and overall electrochemical performance. The fabricated electrode delivers a specific capacitance of similar to 470 F g(-1) at 0.5 A g(-1) in three electrode assembly. Further, it is embedded into symmetric supercapacitor and the device exhibits a specific capacitance of 296 F g(-1), energy density of 36.60 Wh kg(-1), and power density of similar to 899 W kg(-1). These results highlight the potential of MOF-based hybrid systems as scalable and efficient materials for next-generation supercapacitor applications.
