Preparation of Flexible Pressure Sensor Based on Ag Nanowires and Polystyrene Nanoparticles

A highly flexible and transparent pressure sensor is prepared based on silver nanowire networks. The silver nanowires are randomly attached onto the substrate of poly(dimethyl siloxane) for enhanced electrical stability and transparency at a repeatable stimulus cycle. To confer high-sensitivity and reversibility of electrical response to the composite devices, nanometer-sized, monodisperse polystyrene nanoparticles were inserted as a spacer. Depending on the deposition cycle of polystyrene nanoparticles, the sensitivity of the composite devices to pressure was also changed. The surface morphology and the characterization of sensing properties of the devices were carefully investigated by various techniques such as atomic-force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and UV?vis spectroscopy.
