Improving Precision of LM Guide Form Grinding with Automatic Nozzle Position Control Device

A movable surface, where a ball makes point contact between an LM guide block and a rail, was processed through form grinding, which inevitably caused deformation owing to process heat. In this study, the main parameters of a nozzle that affect the cooling characteristics were selected through thermo-fluid computational analysis, and the heat transfer coefficient of each parameter was calculated. Based on this, a nozzle position control device was implemented. The product of this device was compared with previous products to verify the validity of the nozzle position control device, improve productivity, and reduce defect rates in industrial sites.
