Recently, polymer/caly nanocomposites have been intensively studied because they show a lot of improved properties. For example, they can attain a particular degree of stiffness, strength, heat distortion temperature and barrier properties with far less inorganic content than comparable glass or mineral reinforced polymers, and therefore, they are far lighter in weight. New polymer/caly nanocomposites have been prepared consisting of well-dispersed two-dimensional layers of orgaincally modigied montmorillonite (Closite 30B, Southern Clay Products Inc, U.S.A.) within a biodegradable poly(butylene succinate)(PBS) matrix by twin-screw extruder and solvent casting in chloroform, X-ry diffrction showed that PBS intercalated into galleries of montmorillontes. DSC and optical microscopy showed that the crystallization behavior of the nonomoposites was different from that of PBS. Thermal stability of the nanocomposites was investigated by TGA
