We consider Bessel-correlated beams as partially coherent nondiffracting beams. For the pure Bessel-correlated beam, on using the coherent mode representation in the plane perpendicular to the propagation direction, we show that each mode function is nondiffracting and hence the coherence properties of the pure Bessel-correlated beam are preserved on propagation. We examine the diffraction effect on coherence properties of the Bessel-correlated beam with a Gaussian envelope through computer simulation. The results are analysed in terms of nondiffraction and coherence enhancement due to propagation.
