The Study on the Efficient Operation of Tower Crane Using GPS and Machine Vision Techniques

초록

Material lifting, handling and distribution using tower cranes in especially high-rise building construction sites have received considerable attention by site managers to ensure efficient material supply and reduce its inherent safety concerns. Recently, numerous research efforts have been conducted to increase the work efficiency of tower cranes, using a wide variety of automation and sensing technologies. This paper mainly focuses on describing a new approach to enhance the work efficiency and minimize the safety concerns related to the operations of tower cranes. Global Positioning System(GPS) and machine vision techniques are utilized in order to achieve such enhancements. A conceptual design of the semi-automated tower crane and its entire work process are illustrated in this paper as well.
