Significance and Status of Copyright Protection of Film : Legislative and Policy Consideration from the Perspective of Government

Thre factors which cotributed successful Film Industry are; freedom of speech, screen quota and storong copyright protection. In terms of Copyright Act, Korea grants strong status to the producers. Though modern authors own copyright to the film as co-authors, their copyrights are presument to transfer to the producers. Performers rights are also presumed to transfer to the producers. MCST established Special Judicial Copyright Police in 2008, mainly to control illegal film file sharing. In 2011, MCST introduced web-storage registration system to protect Film Industry. These legislative and policy consideratins resulted in sound basis for Film Industry.
