초록

This paper deals with the design of chipless Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag using a fundamental structure of reflective polarization converter. The tags, which operate based on frequency-domain techniques, utilize the cross-polarization response generated by the structure of linear-to-circular (LTC) polarizer as polarization converter. The parametric study investigates an array of six resonators to achieve an optimal design of chipless RFID tag. The results show that the value of resonant frequencies which is too close one each other degrades the cross-polarization response and obscures the value of monostatic radar cross-section (RCS) peak. The spacing and placement configuration between resonators also influences the frequency response and RCS level. In this study, two optimal design combinations of chipless RFID tag are proposed. The first offers bandwidth efficiency, operating within the frequency of 2.5 GHz to 4 GHz, while the second provides a more compact tag size but requires a wider bandwidth in the frequency range of 2.5 GHz to 5 GHz. © 2026 IEEE.
