A rigid-plastic finite element method is also applied to the forming process to compare the deformation pattern with the experiments and to see the material flow during the process in detail. In this paper, the tube forming by radial-forward extrusion is analyzed by numerical simulation. The emphasis is focused on the effect of process variables such as gap height, relative gap width and the die corner radius on the radial-forward extrusion process. The influence of deformation patterns of flange in radial extrusion on forward extrusion for tube forming is investigated and summarized in terms of the maximum forming force and hardness variations along the extrusion path. Based on finite element analysis in Al alloy, analysis is performed for important parameter combination in order to reduce forming defects.
