A New Measurement Method of Grounding Impedance Using a Variable Frequency Inverter

Abstract - This paper presents a novel method for measuring the grounding impedance as a function of frequency. The grounding impedance measurement system and consists of a variable frequency inverter, personal computer, data acquisition and processing unit, and voltage and current probes. The measuring device of the grounding system impedances was designed and fabricated. The experiments were carried out in actual sized deep-driven ground rod of 30 m long. It was known that the grounding system impedance was inductive over the frequency range of some tens kHz.
