초록
This paper compares the existing standards including codes and guidelines that contain the contents of the assessment for existing structures. Based on the key components in those available standards, a revised table of contents for international standards or model codes is proposed by combining both the design and assessment of civil structures. The proposed table of contents is basically divided into introductory part, basic parts for design and assessment, input data, key parts for design/assessment, and others. The introductory parts cover scope, terminology, and notation. The basic part addresses the main principles or requirements for the design and assessment of civil structures. The input data can be divided into load/action data, material data, and structure resistance data. Key parts for design or assessment may vary depending on the type of structure. Thus, only conceptual contents may be proposed to cover all types of structures. Other contents address issues of execution or intervention, environmental issues of conservation or reuse, and appendices. The proposed table of contents can be referred to in developing new standards by combining design and assessment parts.
