Optimizing Learning Outcomes through Motivation-Adapted Individualized Teachable Agents

This study utilized the Korea University Intelligent Agent (KORI) to develop a customized program tailored to learners' motivation levels and examined its effectiveness. In Study 1, a regression model was constructed to predict learners' mastery goals by combining behavioral indicators during the use of the online KORI program. Study 2 compared achievement, metacognitive awareness, and topic interest across conditions: individualized KORI condition, non-individualized control condition, and multimedia control condition. The results showed that participants using the individualized KORI program outperformed other conditions in essay writing, metacognition, and quizzes. These findings suggest that identifying learners' motivation levels through online behavior indicators and providing tailored intelligent tutoring programs can enhance learning outcomes.
