Venous Disease Treatment : Conservative Treatments

In conditions of limb-threatening DVT or PTE with associated hypotension, rapid thrombus resolution and thrombolysis are required. At least 3 months of anticoagulation is needed for treatment of DVT / PTE. If the recurrence risk is at least intermediate (>3% per year) without high bleeding risk, secondary prevention is required to prevent the recurrence of VTE. In patients with venous insufficiency, adequate and long term compression helps to relieve symptoms and decrease venous hypertension and edema.
