A roughened surface and a sufficient air gap increases the contact angle. A quantity of trapped air is very important for increasing the contact angle of a periodic pattern for a hydrophobic surface, and is based on Wenzel theory and Cassie-Baxter theory. A micro or nanostructured surface fabricated by low surface energy material, such as fluorinated polymer, can have high contact angles. in this study, the imprinting process using PDMS mold as a stamp was applied. This pattern is fabricated on aluminum substrate for anti corrosion characteristics.
