Investigation of the Functionality of the Tear Film Lipid Layer by Interactions between Lysozyme and Lipids
초록
Dry eye disease (DED) is a chronic eye condition characterized by dryness and inflammation. Environmental pollutants can damage the tear film lipid layer (TFLL), leading to DED. Tear protein-lipid interactions are important, but their molecular mechanisms are unclear. Research suggests that lysozyme (LYZ) stabilizes the TFLL by reducing surface tension and increasing pressure, improving resistance to bacterial invasion and evaporation, and enhancing wettability and lubrication. This study highlights LYZ's vital role in maintaining ocular health and offers potential avenues for novel DED treatments
