The implication of elevated CEA level of pleural fluid in patients of non-malignant pleural effusion

초록

Serial estimation of pleural fluid CEA level during successful treatment of pneumonia, falsely elevated CEA level in groups of parapneumonic effusion and empyema can be differentiated from possibility of malignant effusion without initially performing other expensive examinations for elevated CEA level.
