Aerodynamic analysis of lifting fan embedded in wing using adm and asm

In this paper, a numerical technique that can analyze the aerodynamic performance of lifting fans embedded in aircraft is presented. Unlike fully fledged CFD methods, the present method combines a RANS method with an actuator disk method and an actuator surface method. Due to the approximations associated with the actuator methods, the current method gives time averaged performance of the lifting fans. This method, however, is much more efficient than the unsteady CFD method. The accuracy of the method is demonstrated by comparing the results of the present method for a lifting fan embedded in a wing with an experimental data. © 2018, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA.
