Foreign Direct Investment in the EU by Korean Firms

Foreign direct investment(FDI) as a means of foreign market entry is being utilized to a great extent. The volume of trade and FDI between Europe and Asia is increasing substantially. ASEM is also likely to contribute to promoting them. Many Asian firms invested in European countries within the context of their international strategy. Some of them did to exploit market opportunities. Others did to take advantage of advanced technologies in developed European countries. Case studies on FDI in European countries by Korean firms will help to understand their strategies, relations with European firms, impact on the European economy, and so forth. Several Korean firms that made a substantial amount of investment in European countries are selected for case studies. Their strategies, size of investment, profitability, effect of employment, impact on the European economy, and etc. are studied. Also a comparison is made among the firms in terms of their business activities.
