Performance of a Simulcast Radio System Using Adaptive Antenna Array

This paper introduces the multiple transmission links between a mobile and ports by using the adaptive antenna array. A simucasting technique can be used to establish the multiple transmission link in ulink and downlink. When multipath channel environment between mobiles and ports change dynamically, the transmission powerand the weighting vector are adjusted to satisfy the target SIR. Therefore, we propose the weighted power control algorithm and use the LMS algorithm to adjust the weighting vector. We perform simulations to observe uplink performance for the proposed system. We observe that the case of multiple uplinks using adaptive antenna array has faster convergence than that of single uplink and multiple uplinks using omni-directional antenna. Thus, the system with multilink has faster adaptability to the interference variation due to time-varying traffic.
