Flow Analysis and Design of Turbomachinery

A review of three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) analysis techniques and numerical optimizations of aerodynamic design for turbomachines, such as fans and compressors, is presented. Applications of RANS analysis technique to imcompressible flows in axial and centrifugal fans, and also to transonic flows in multi-stage axial-flow compressor are introduced. Performances of turbulence models for the flow through a rotor are also discussed. Examples of the numerical optimization technique for the design of axial-flow fans and compressors, based on three-dimensional RANS analysis, are introduced, and the performances are discussed
