Association between dietary patterns and metabolic parameters in Korean type 2 diabetic patients
초록
Medical Nutritional therapy is important in preventing diabetes, managing existing diabetes, and preventing the development of diabetic complications. The aim of this study was to assess the dietary adequacy and the association between dietary intake and metabolic parameters in Korean type 2 diabetic patients who have a different dietary pattern from those of western countries. 1,478 diabetic patients from the Korean National Diabetes Program (KNDP) cohort who completed dietary assessment and clinical evaluation from March, 2006 to November, 2007 were included in this study. Dietary nutritional intake was assessed using a 24hr dietary recall method and anthropometric data and biochemical data were collected. Excess calorie, carbyhydrate and fat intake is associated with poor glycemic control in Korean type 2 diabetic patients. Further prospective studies will be able to evaluate the causality of this association and the significance of the deficient nutrients.
