Nitric oxide (NO) is a diffusible molecule that plays variety signalling roles in the biological systems. Because NO has different redox states, such as nitrosonium cation (NO+), nitroxyl anion (NO-) and nitroxyl radical (NO·), it has been proposed that NO was corcerned in either preventing cell death or driving programmed cell death with different reactivity toward various target groups. As a potent inhibitor of apoptotic cell death, NO could protect against cellular damage and cytotoxicity from reactive oxygen species (ROS) or any other environmental stress involved in energy depletion. In this study, transgenic Oryza sativa L. cell line used to the production of CTLA4Ig with RAmy3D promoter system expressed under sugar starvation. Sodium nitroprusside (SNP) is well-known molecules as NO-donor. SNP was added into the culture media to prevent apoptosis or necrosis during the production stage. The objective of this study was to investigate that the effect of NO released from SNP. It was found that SNP showed positive effect on the production of CTLA4Ig in transgenic rice suspension cell cultures.
