We report the fabrication of Fabry-Perot microcavity structure with organic light emitting materials, tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline)aluminum (Alq3) and 4-(dicyanomethylene)-2-methyl-6(p-dimethylaminostyryl)-4H-pyran (DCM) and the optical properties of the microcavity measured by the photoluminescence (PL) and the absorption. A bare Alq3 film of [air|Alq3|glass] has a PL peak around 514 nm while the DCM doped Alq3 film of [air|Alq3:DCM|glass] varies the PL peak from 590 nm to 630 nm as the concentration of DCM increases. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of them is about 80 and 67 nm, respectively. In the Fabry-Perot microcavity Ag layers were used as metal reflectors and (TiO2|SiO2) and (HfO2|SiO2) multilayer stacks as dielectric reflectors. The FWHM of the microcavities with Alq3 and Alq3:DCM spacers was reduced to 7~16 and 12 nm, respectively. It is also shown that the PL peak of the microcavity can be controlled by the spacer thickness, the phase changes on reflection and the incident angle.
