Two new anthuridean species, Caenanthura koreana sp. nov. and Apanthura koreana sp. nov. (Malacostraca: Isopoda: Anthuridae) from South Korea

Abstract: Two new species of anthuridean isopoda, Caenanthura koreana sp. nov. and Apanthura koreana sp. nov. (Malacostraca: Isopoda: Anthuridae), were collected from the southern and western coasts of Korean peninsula using the Van Veen grab method. Genera Caenanthura and Apanthura were first reported from South Korea in this paper: Caenanthura koreana sp. nov. and Apanthura koreana sp. nov. Prior to this study, only two species of the family Anthuridae: Cyathura higoensis Nunomura, 1977 and Mesanthura nigrodorsalis Nunomura, 1977 had been recorded from South Korea. Therefore, these two new species are the third and fourth species of the family Anthuridae, and the first new species found from South Korea. In this paper, we provide detailed descriptions and illustrations of the diagnostic characteristics of these species. In addition, the key to the species and distribution of the genus Caenanthura are provided.
