초록

The effects of organic loading rate (OLR) on the performance of an anaerobic fluidized bed biofilm reactor (AFBBR) with granular activated carbon media were investegated by gradually increasing the OLR from 0.5 to 30 Kg COD/m3-day. The COD removal efficiency was almost constant with an average of 85% until the OLR reached 12 Kg COD/m3-day, but gradually decreased at higher OLRs. The maximum gas and methane production rate were 0.47 and 0.22 m3/Kg COD removed, respectively, at an OLR of 12 Kg COD/m3-day. The methane content of the gas was almost constant with an average 57% when the OLR was 3-8 Kg COD/m3-day, but decreased when the OLR was above 12 Kg COD/m3-day. The CO2 content of the gas gradually increased when the OLR reached 12 Kg COD/m3-day. The optimum OLR for the activated carbon AFBBR was concluded to be 12 Kg COD/m3-day.
