Synthesis of Hollow TiO2 Nanoparticles Templated by Ionic Surfactants

초록

TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by the use of ionic surfactants in various reaction media. Less than 10 nm of monodisperse titania nanoparticles were synthesized by colloidal templating of cetyltriammonium bromide (CTAB) and titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) in THF. AOT was also used to prepare titania nanoparticle in cyclohexane reaction media. Hollow titania nanoparticles were also prepared based on polystyrene(PS)- and poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA)-titania hybrids. PS and PMMA bead with a diameter in the range of 100-200 nm were initially prepared by emulsion polymerization and then mixed with prehydrolyzed TTIP ethanolic solutions. These organic-inorganic hybrid nanoparticles were calcined at 800oC in air. The dimensions and characteristics of titania particles were analyzed by TEM, SEM and then zeta potential analyzer. Keywords: surfactant, titania, nanoparticle
