Ordered Nanoporous Materials with Microporous Crystalline Frameworks

Here we report the first route to synthesize highly ordered mesoporous silica having crystalline, microporous zeolite frameworks, conveniently denoted as IHU series. Our approach is mainly based on the sequential synthesis of meso- and microstructure by two-step treatments. In the synthetic processing, the addition of swelling agents significantly improves the formability of the surfactant micelles during the solid rearrangement process within the framework, converting the amorphous silica into the highly ordered crystalline, microporous zeolite phase. We demonstrate the hydrothermal stability of the materials under severe conditions that are difficult to achieve by conventional techniques. The method yields nanoporous crystalline materials that are easily applied in catalysis, separations, coating, and high performance optical and electronic devices.
