Hydraulic and Geomorphic Characteristics of Nakdong River in Korea

초록

Most alluvial rivers deviate from a straight alinment and then the thalweg oscillates transversely and the formation of bends is initiated. The meandering of the Nakdong river is very severe. The meandering processes in the river were reviewed through comparing air photographs and surveying data. The hydraulic characteristics of the river were investigated based upon the river depth, discharge, velocity thalweg changing rate. In this river, the dredging is one of the major causes for changing the hydraulic characteris- tics. Geomorphic history indicates that the top width is decreased, and the thalweg is shifting and becoming lower.
