A Study on the Friction and Wear Characteristics of Tungsten Carbide and Zirconium Lubricated by Phosphor-Containing Liquid

Recently, the necessity of ultra-high precision technique in ejection process has been continuously raised in dispensing system due to the precision refining trend of semiconductor and LED packaging assembly. However, when the liquid containing particles is ejected in high velocity condition, the ejection reliability will decrease due to the abrasion on the contact surface. Therefore, this study focus on the friction and wear characteristics of high strength material (Tungsten Carbide or Zirconium) with the lubricant of high viscosity liquid containing particles of Nitride or YAG in reciprocating condition. The different portion of 15 or 30% of each particle is added in the lubricant. For each experimental conditions, the friction coefficient was measured and compared. And the contact surface of specimen is analyzed by optical microscope. Also, the surface roughness of specimen is measured by profilometer before and after test. The performance of reciprocation friction and wear characteristics of Tungsten Carbide and Zirconium lubricated by phosphor-containing liquid is evaluated through analyzing the experiment results.
