This paper presents a hull form design method of full ship that considers the relation between fore-body hull form and resistance characteristics. For the hull form design, Series 60(CB=0.8) hull is chosen as a parent ship, and Kracht's charts are applied to get the parameters of bow bulb. In compliance with the bow type and the form variation, several fore-body hull forms are designed. In order to predict the resistance characteristics of the designed hull forms, numerical simulations and model tests are performed. For the numerical simulations, Navier-Stokes equations and continuity equation are adopted as governing equations. And Marker-Density method is employed to track the nonlinear phenomena of free surface(program IUBW). In order to predict the resistance performance of each designed hull, the wave pattern and pressure distribution are simulated. Model tests are performed for the several cases among the designed hulls. These tests are resistance test, wave pattern photographing which uses high speed camera, and the wave pattern analysis which uses wave recorder. These results show that the resistance performances of the designed hull forms are improved. It is expected that the present research results will facilitate better hull form design productivity which considers the relation between fore-body hull form and resistance characteristics at the preliminary design stage of full ship.
