Unsteady Navier-Stokes Analysis of the Flow through an Axial Fan

초록

The flow through an axial-flow fan with shroud which is suggested for decreasing sound noise generation is analyzed numerically. With the coordinate system fixed on the fan the suggested shroud, which is wavy periodically like a female screw, causes unsteady flow. Computer code for 3-dimensional unsteady flow is developed and prediction are made for three cases of flow rate coefficient. The numerical results are compared with the experimental data. The comparison shows that the numerical results are well fitted with the experimental data in the case of large flow rate. And, the numerical results show that the shroud's periodic wavy wall causes pressure field near the tip to be periodic.
