초록

In recent times, there has been rapid development of nanotechnology that facilitated drastic revolutions of classical food and agriculture sectors, predominantly the invention of smart and active packaging, nanosensors, nanofertilizers, and nanopesticides. Abundant novel and advanced materials have been developed for refining food quality, crop growth, food safety, and monitoring environmental conditions. Current incidents in food safety with the adulteration of synthetic flavors and chemical dregs in food items have driven the necessity to develop rapid, reliable, and sensitive approaches to sense those food threats. There is a huge need for the development of nanosensors to detect food ingredients in a simple and rapid manner. Innovative and online methods for diverse food pathogen detection and agricultural sector with high accuracy are made possible by combining nanosensors with contemporary information and communication technologies (ICTs). There are several sorts of nanosensors, such as nanotubes based electrochemical sensors for the identification of anions, cations, and organic composites in food and several aptamers for the identification of antibiotics, pesticides, microbial cells, and heavy metals that are being developed to meet the diverse needs in food and agriculture industry. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.
