The use of composite materials in marine field has been growing steadily since the early 1950s due to its favorable weight/strength ratio, good corrosion resistance. Generally Fibre Reinforced Plastic(FRP) is popular. Initially composite materials were used for small crafts such as lifeboats and pleasure crafts. These situation has changed over the years, they have been used in high performance, high speed and large-sized crafts. But a thinner, lighter and larger marine structure coupled with far higher loads has a significant fatigue failure. Fatigue failure is described as a process which causes damage in structure under fluctuating loads of a magnitude much less than the static failure load. This has many parameters as magnitude of the fluctuations of the load or deformation cycles, height of the mean or peak level of the load cycle, and loading condition or history, and so on. Lastly the mutual influence of all these parameters destroy a structure. In this paper, general review on fatigue failure in marine composite structures is made to develop fatigue design guide lines.
