A Study on Recreating Urban Context through Reorganizing the Border Conditions in Collision City

The urban expansion accompanied by modernization led to an increase in the number of vehicles, and road-network sprawl changed the urban structure to make a collision city. Emerging diversified boundaries through collisions of many different causes, has created socially as well as psycho-culturally heterogeneous environment. Then, how are meaningful relationships among borders to be recreated in the city like Seoul? how are the boundaries in the city made to function as relational mediators in heterogeneous and multilateral environment? The study, focusing on the heterogeneous border conditions appeared at the mountain foot of Hoehyeon, attempts to examine ways to reinterpret the relationships among the fragmented fields, and to explore design strategies for reconstructing the boundaries relational in the area where more than three city components are collided to each other. The study, therefore, purposes to acquire a way of thinking that allows a creation of proper composition by using existing fragmented urban context.
