Zeolites are a class of microporous crystalline aluminosilicates that are widely used in industry as catalysts and for separation for industry. The manufacture of zeolites with hierarchical pore structures that exhibit both mesoporosity and intrinsic microporosity could broaden their applications by overcoming diffusion limitations. This chapter outlines recent achievements in the synthesis of hierarchical zeolites with bottom-up and top-down strategies and their catalytic demonstration. The benefits conferred by hierarchical structures such as improved selectivity, catalyst stability, and capability in the contexts of the reactions of bulky molecules and demonstrative applications in catalytic reactions are discussed. © The Royal Society of Chemistry 2021.
