A Preliminary Study on the Clinical Effectiveness of New Integrated Drug-drug Interaction knowledgebase:
초록
DUR (Drug Utilization Review) service in Korea is a national mandatory clinical decision support (CDS) service for preventing unintended drug-drug interactions (DDIs) regarding prescriptions. Due to several limitations of current DUR service, we implemented a new DDI CDS service by integrating new expended DDI knowledge into conventional DUR rules at the emergency department of a tertiary teaching hospital. And, we looked into the clinical effectiveness of new knowledgebase on the length and cost of hospitalization and re-visit. There was no significant difference in the length and cost of hospitalization whether the new DDI knowledge was provided, while there was significantly different rate of hospitalization. There were also non-significant negative correlations between the number of alerts and the elapsed time to re-visit (p<0.05). The time to re-hospitalization and re-visit at the emergency department showed significantly differences whether the new DDI knowledge was provided (p<0.05).
